Internet can save forests?

I heard in the radio today that if we could make all our paper works to be sent and received on the internet, with no real paper involved, we could spare entire forests from being cut all over the world.
Some people already made suggestions about this idea. But I don`t get how will people do this if they actually don`t have internet access at all. If this idea makes it to the "finish line" (with a help of a miracle), how will those people pay, for example, their bills for electricity, or taxes and such?

What do you guys think about this?

Library! No, well I don't think everyone will have a computer for maybe until 20 years from now. There are still those small tribes that don't even wear shirts after all.

Library could work. But again... Now what about the older people? Not everybody knows how to work with computers.
And also what about those with serious diseases? Like paralysis and such? I don`t think their biggest problem is to go to a library and pay taxes.

Well alot of old people don't understand technology, so they don't need computers. However I know that the actress betty white goes on the computer to look at porn (or it may have been a joke) she's 88! and I have a relative that's around that age and she emails people, but that's it.

Yes I know some people who know how to email and such too. But I also know some people who does not want to learn it at all. They say that they wont need it anyway so why would they waste their time with that. And I know someone who is not even that old but still does not want to learn it.

So it seems we agree that the idea itself is not bad, but it takes a lot more effort to make it reality.

Energy? What do you mean?
It takes time that is for sure, but I don`t think it would take too much energy. Just need to make sites for every official things.
And what/who is "Amish" if I can ask?

Energy as in power, electricity.
The Amish are people that live like they're in the past, drive buggies pulled by horses, live in simple homes,and don't use electronics. Razz

Making electricity is not a big deal these days. They are some techniques which are able to make power from burning the junk and mess people are dropping all over. And we must admit that we have a lot of junk.
But your second argument is positive.
